laser surgery

About 14 years ago I had Laser surgery(the russian Technique where the cornea is cut like a knife) on my left eye. A few years later I had the right eye done(using a different technique, cornea is molded). Today(aged 40) my right eye has completly regressed and I am required to wear glasses again. Is regression common in laser surgery and could it be due to other factors such as my age? There doesn’t seem to be much information on the web about people having to go back to glasses after they had laser surgery.

Can laser eye surgery be used to reduce your prescription?
I have been told that my vision is unfortunately too bad (+8 and +10 D European contact lense strength) to be corrected by laser surgery.

I am therefore wondering if it is possible to get laser surgery to just improve my eyes and reduce my prescription to a more normal level. Has anyone out there done this? Hardly any contact manufacturers make lenses this high in strength and I’m scared that someday I won’t be able to find any. Also, I don’t like wearing glasses as they magnify my eyes so much and people comment about it! icon smile Can laser eye surgery be used to reduce your prescription?

I have been told about the possibility of lense implants but this scares me! Do the implants degrade over time?

    Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Thanks David! I feel much happier now! icon smile Can laser eye surgery be used to reduce your prescription?

I am very nearsighted, and I know it’s not a good idea to try to have my vision totally corrected with laser surgery, but can it be improved? Even just shaving off a few diopters would be great. I don’t mind wearing contacts, but I’m almost to the point where they will be very expensive. My prescription is -11.50 in my left eye, and -10.00 in my right eye.

From what I understand, laser surgery affects intraocular pressure in the eyeball; when scuba diving, submerging to pressures that exceed one ATM (at the surface) down to 250 ft – the point beyond which nitrogen narcosis is likely to be experienced, hence sport divers do not exceed this depth) what effect does/will having the eye surgery have upon vision, or compromising the eye in any way? Have never heard of any article in this regard, and when I sent ltrs of inquiry both on the internet and to ophthalmologists, never seem to get an answer, even to admit they simply do not know?

I dont have the best eyes in the world. I think my perscription is 4.25 and 4.50. I also have Amblyopia lazy eye. I’m 20 years ol;d and I have allways hated wearing glasses. I have heard allot of good thing about lasik and other procedures. I really want to get something done with my eyes. Any one know if laser surgery would be a good idea for me for me ? I’ve also heard that it better to wait until your late twenties to get it done but thats with a regular condition. Any info on laser eye surgery is very much appreciated. Thanks again Glen
