Can laser eye surgery be used to reduce your prescription?
I have been told that my vision is unfortunately too bad (+8 and +10 D European contact lense strength) to be corrected by laser surgery.

I am therefore wondering if it is possible to get laser surgery to just improve my eyes and reduce my prescription to a more normal level. Has anyone out there done this? Hardly any contact manufacturers make lenses this high in strength and I’m scared that someday I won’t be able to find any. Also, I don’t like wearing glasses as they magnify my eyes so much and people comment about it! icon smile Can laser eye surgery be used to reduce your prescription?

I have been told about the possibility of lense implants but this scares me! Do the implants degrade over time?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Thanks David! I feel much happier now! icon smile Can laser eye surgery be used to reduce your prescription?

Im planning on having lasik eye surgery because my eyes cant see far away very well. If I decide on having a child in about a year after the surgery will his/ her eye sight be as bad as mine was or will it be good. If this helps my husband has decent eyesight ( doesnt wear glasses).

I know there are other qualities that NASA looks for in astronauts, but if I got my vision corrected would I have a chance (if I had all the other qualities)?

Just wondering what to tell the teachers who say to a lot of kids w/ glasses that enjoy math and science,"Too bad you can’t be an astronaut"

I read to join the air force you have to have 20/20 vision but i don’t have 20/20 vision I have glasses and each lens is 1.75 each. I can see perfectly fine up close but from faraway i cant see. I was wondering if there i way i can fix this with out laser eye surgery because the air force won’t let someone in with the surgery.

laser laser (corrective) eye surgery patients have to return to glasses in 5-10 years. I know it basically tortures your eye, and sometimes causes unbearable side-effects. 100% of patients get DES (Dry-Eye Syndrome).

I have a few questions on laser eye surgery. I am considering getting rid of my glasses, but I do not want to have contact lenses.
-How does it work, and does it work for everybody?
-What are the risks, if any?
-What is the cost, and is some of the cost covered by most health insurance plans?
-Do you get perfect 20/20 vision, or just better vision?
                Thanks for your answers.
