I’ve been thinking about laser eye surgery for a while now and am really curious whether there are conditions or just anything that could cause you to not be able to get it? My eye doctor appointment isn’t for a while so I can’t ask her just now.. My eyes have a prescription of +6.50 (left eye) and +5.00 (right eye) and my left eye is sort of like a lazy eye when it’s unfocussed (only sometimes though)

I am 14 and the eye doctor people say that I am almost legally blind and I can’t see like anything far away at all its completely blurry and they said that I would have to get laser eye surgery when I turn 18.How much would that cost?I know its like ALOT but whats a close estimate?

Seems like they want people to go through the rest of your life wearing eye glasses or contact lens. There doesn’t seem to be any real cure of people with poor eye sight. Their eye sight will always get worse. Is poor eye sight a condition that is not treatable? All the eye doctor does is get a person stronger glasses over their life time. If Lasik Eye Surgery is close to a cure for poor eye sight why doesn’t the insurance companies approve of it?

I’m going to school to become a commercial pilot. Obviously my career depends on being able to see 20/20 with or without correction (I’m 20/200 without contacts, slight astigmatism). I’m 30 years now but have considered eye surgery my entire life. (even RK back in the day). Obviously technology has improved by leaps and bounds. When LASIK rolled out I thought how could it get better than this? My best friend is a MD and he told me to hold off for a few years (this was 4-5 years ago) and now we have custom wavefront LASIK. I have had friends who’ve had both done with excellent results. Now with wavefront LASIK advancements, what else is on the horizon??? Are some stellar new techniques currently being developed that will roll out in the next 4-5 years?
My eye doctor is suggesting PRK. Night vision problems could also end my career. I’ve heard there is less chance of reduced night vision (halos /startbursts) with PRK. The NAVY only allows PRK surgery for their pilots.

I am farsighted and it’s a severe case. My glasses prescription is plus 5. My eye doctor told me not to get laser surgery because my case was so severe. I’ve heard laser surgery is not that good for people with farsightedness. Is this true/will this change in the future?

Ive been wearing glasses ever since i was 10 years old. I dont like wearing glasses so I want to get the Lasik surgery. But Ive been told that this operation is very dangerous. Can I get some advice from people who have had this surgery or maybe an eye doctor?
