    Can I have laser eye surgery with a severe astigmatism? ?

    I was told LASIK surgery is impossible in my right eye. My astigmatism is 13.0, with vision around 20/800. My doctor says my cornea is much to thin to do this procedure. Also this eye is a lazy eye, but it has normal movement, it just doesn’t recieve signals from my brain. Has anyone heard of an eye this severe being corrected with LASIK?

      Lasik Eye Surgery?

      My eyes are awful… one is -9.25 and the other is -7.25, I also have astigmatism.

      My eye doctor told me a few years ago my eyes were too bad to have lasik surgery done but he could insert a lens into my eye (kind of the way they do cataracts? from what I understood).

      Has anyone ever had this surgery done?
      Is any surgery able to correct my awful vision?

        Opinions on Lasik eye surgery?

        I’ve been considering Lasik eye surgery for years. At one point I even had a consultation and appointment to have it done, but backed out. I would really like to consider it again, but I’d like to hear from people that have had it done or know people who have had the procedure.
        I have astigmatism in only one eye, my prescription is like 2 something…if that information helps.
        Oh, yes, the age factor. I’m currently 26.

          What are some reasons that someone would not be a 'good candidate' for laser eye surgery?

          My eye guy said I wasn’t. When I asked him to explain why, he just said I wasn’t.

          Anyway, I have astigmatism, and my contact prescription is left -3.75 and right is -9.00.

          Am I eligible for Lasik eye surgery? I have a very high prescription?

          My prescription is -8 for both eyes (they are actually -8 point something, but I don’t remember what exactly). I have slight astigmatism as well, but no other issues with my eyes. I’m in my early 20s, and my eyes have not stabilized yet. My prescription seems to get worse by a point or so every 2-3 years.

          I’m interested in having surgery to correct my extremely poor vision. I have astigmatism in both eyes, and I have several family members who swear they’ve heard horror stories about botched surgeries. I’m SO sick of the discomfort of contacts and glasses, not to mention the insane amount of money and time I’ve invested in them over the past 17 years. I’m 25 now. Tell me about your experiences?
